Mebendazole (Vermox, Veromebendazole, Wormin)

Tablets 0.1 g.

Mechanism, spectrum of action

A broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent: it prevents the synthesis of cellular tubulin, disrupts the utilization of glucose in the helminth’s body and inhibits the formation of ATP.

Accumulates in adipose tissue, liver and helminth larvae.

Contraindications are hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, age under 2 years.

Application diagram

Ascariasis , trichuriasis , hookworm disease , mixed helminthiases:

  • adults – 0.1 g every 12 hours one hour before meals;
  • children 2-3 years old - 0.025 g per day;
  • children 4-7 years old – 0.05 g per day;
  • children 8-10 years old – 0.075 g per day;
  • children over 10 years old – 0.1 g per day, 1-2 doses (morning and evening). Course – 3 days.

Enterobiasis:

  • adults 0.1 g;
  • children 2-3 years old – 0.025 g;
  • children 4-7 years old – 0.05 g;
  • children 8-10 years old - 0.075 g;
  • over 10 years - 0.1 g once orally.

Repeated administration after 2-4 weeks at the same dose. It is necessary to treat all family members over 2 years of age.

Strongyloidiasis:

  • adults – 0.2 g 2 times a day before meals;
  • children – 0.1 g 2 times a day.

Course – 5-7 days.

Trichinosis:

  • adults - 0.2-0.4 g 3 times a day for 3 days, then 0.4-0.5 g 3 times a day for 10 days;
  • children - 5 mg/kg body weight per day in 2-3 divided doses between meals.

The course lasts 5-14 days.

Echinococcosis:

  • adults - 500 mg 2 times a day for the first 3 days, then at the same dose 3 times a day for the next 3 days, then at a dose of 25-30 mg/kg body weight per day in 4 divided doses with meals;
  • children – 40-50 mg/kg body weight per day in 3 divided doses,
  • over 14 years old - 0.15-0.2 g per day in 2-3 doses.

The course is long, 15-24 months after radical surgery.

Toxocariasis:

  • adults – 0.4 g per day in 4 divided doses with meals;
  • children – 10 mg/kg body weight per day.

The course lasts on average 10 days (5-15 days). It is necessary to repeat the course after 2 weeks.
