Mechanism, spectrum of action
This drug is an antiprotozoal agent. Universal for all forms of amoebiasis - a third-line drug. The action is based on disruption of the DNA structure of sensitive microorganisms.
Contraindications are hypersensitivity and pregnancy.
Application diagram
Trichomoniasis (trichomoniasis):
- orally for adults and children over 10 years of age – 500 mg 2 times a day for 5 days or 250 mg per day 3 times a day for 7 days;
- children 3-7 years old – 125 mg 2 times a day;
- children 7-10 years old - 125 mg 3 times a day.
The course lasts 7 days.
Amebiasis (in intestinal forms):
- orally or intravenously for adults and children over 10 years of age - 750 mg 3 times a day;
- children 3-7 years old - 250 mg 4 times a day;
- children 7-10 years old - 375 mg 3 times a day.
The course lasts 5-10 days.
For amoebic liver abscess and other forms of extraintestinal amebiasis:
- adults and children over 10 years old - 375 mg 3 times a day;
- children 3-7 years old - 125 mg 4 times a day;
- children 7-10 years old - 250 mg 3 times a day.
The course lasts 5-10 days.
To sanitize media:
- 0.4-0.8 g 3 times a day for 5-8 days.
- orally or intravenously for adults and children over 10 years of age - 500 mg 2 times a day for 5-7 days or 2000 mg (8 tablets) 1 time a day for 3 days;
- children 3-7 years old - 250-375 mg once a day for 5 days or 500-750 mg once a day for 3 days;
- children 7-10 years old - 250 mg 2 times a day for 5 days or 1000 mg (4 tablets) 1 time a day for 3 days.
